Is There a Link Between Trauma and Our Fascia? NEW VIDEO Interview

This week for Fascia February we dive into trauma and the effect it can have our fascia and its function. See the NEW Shake Talk Discussion PLUS some FAR OUT-Fascia Facts!

FAR OUT-Fascia Facts… just FASCINATING

In my quest while researching this months topic, I came across many interesting facts, less commonly known or discussed when it comes to our fascia. The more I learn, the more pieces I’m finding that fit together for me - I feel like I’m completing a big puzzle! Here’s some “far-out” fascia facts you may not be aware of;

  1. More Sensitive Than Muscles – Fascia has tons of nerve endings, making it highly sensitive to pain and movement.

  2. Faster Than Muscle Contractions – It transmits force very quickly, helping coordinate body movements and our physical task efficiently.

  3. Stores Stress & Emotions – Tension (trauma) can get trapped in fascia, sometimes releasing as emotions during deep tissue work.

  4. Responds to Vibration – Sound, humming, and shaking (LIKE ON A VIBRATION PLATE!) can help relax tight fascia (and release emotions)

  5. Needs Hydration – Our fascia is ideally 70% water and can become sticky, stiff and achy when it’s dehydrated.

  6. A Body-Wide Connector – Fascia transmits signals across our body much faster than our nerves can.

  7. Can Harden from Stress – Poor posture, chronic tension or other ongoing stress factors can make fascia thick and rigid, causing pain.

  8. Prefers Slow Stretching – Holding a stretch for 2–5 minutes is for many a better way to release fascia. Hydrate and compliment with appropriate breathing.

Special Shake Talk with Guest Andrew Scheim

I posted in my “Fat Disorders” group this month links from a very intuitive healer and friend Andrew Scheim who’s been working in the field of holistic medicine for over 30 years. Andrew’s curious in nature and this has led him to explore many disciplines and technologies over the years. It is my pleasure to have him share some of his “light” and wisdom with each of you. See our most recent discussion where Andrew digs into the relationship between trauma and our fascia. Get insight on some of the methods and practices he incorporates with his work and in his own personal self care.
